Narrative
SALINE CO., AR – Police are investigating a hit-and-run collision along the interstate in southeast Saline County that killed one person and injured three others last Tuesday.
The accident happened in rainy conditions just after 3:30 p.m. on I-530 near mile marker 10, which is just south of Lorance Creek Natural Area and northeast of Ferguson Lake.
Officials say that an unidentified vehicle rear-ended a 2022 Hyundai Elantra carrying four people, causing the Hyundai to veer off of the interstate and crash into a tree.
A 19-year-old passenger from the Hyundai, identified as Jamiyah Devose-Croom, sustained fatal injuries.
Medics transported the driver of the Hyundai and two additional passengers to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
The driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the Hyundai did not stop to render aid or to speak with police.
